Hannah C. Kistler

Dr. Hannah C. Kistler uses rigorous quantitative methods to study how education policies affect teacher supply and student outcomes, with an emphasis on schools in historically underserved communities. Her work has been published in leading education and policy journals, including Educational Researcher, Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, and the Journal of Research on Educational Effectiveness. Dr. Kistler is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership at the University at Albany. Prior to joining UAlbany, she worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the Annenberg Institute at Brown University. She earned her PhD in Education Policy and Leadership from Vanderbilt University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Marian University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Smith College. Her research is informed by her experiences as a middle school math teacher.
