Li Feng
Dr. Li Feng is the Gregg Excellence Professor of Economics in the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University. She currently serves as the editor of Education Finance and Policy, a journal published by MIT Press. From 2021 to 2024, she served on the Board of Directors for the Association for Education Finance and Policy. Dr. Feng has held prestigious visiting positions, including Visiting Scholar at Stanford University's Center for Education Policy Analysis and Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution. She has also been an Adjunct Economist at the RAND Corporation and an Affiliated Researcher at the National Center for Analysis of Longitudinal Data in Education Research.
Dr. Feng’s research spans the economics of education, labor economics, and health economics, with a particular focus on teacher labor markets, school accountability, and collective bargaining agreements. Her work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Urban Economics, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, Education Finance and Policy, Economics of Education Review, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, American Journal of Health Behavior, Atlantic Economic Journal, Education Economics, Educational Policy, Journal of the American Pharmacist Association, and Southern Economic Journal.
Dr. Feng has secured over $6.75 million in external funding for various contract and grant projects. She has received grants from the National Science Foundation, focusing on the retention and effectiveness of STEM teachers in high-need school districts and the impact of peer-led learning support on college students’ retention and workforce outcomes. In collaboration with the American Institute for Research, Dr. Feng will serve as the co-Principal Investigator on a five-year special education research and development center, The Special Educator Workforce: A Research Collaborative, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences, National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER).
Dr. Feng earned her B.A. in International Economic Cooperation from Xi’an Foreign Language University in China and her Ph.D. in Economics and Ed.S. in Education from Florida State University.
